inRiver is seeking an experienced, self-motivated and goal-oriented Director, Business Consulting to join our US Expert services team. The selected candidate must reside in Chicago. As the Director, Business Consulting, you will be the player coach of North America’s Subject Matter Expert and Application Champions team. In addition, you will engage directly with our growing list of strategic partners and customers to help create the most collaborative and Product Information Management (“PIM”) knowledgeable community in the industry.

To be successful in this role, you need to be driven and have the ability to teach, mentor and lead by example. This role requires the ability to liaison with cross-functional internal teams to improve on-boarding new partners, the entire customer experience, and keeping clients satisfied and engaged with our leading SaaS PIM service. You will need to build foundational relationships based on trust, knowledge, and consulting skills. In addition, you will have strong, demonstrated Project Management skills.

You should have a profound understanding of data models and how to proactively, and professionally, consultant with partners and customers to implement our best practices in order to efficiently meet the customer needs. It is important to be able to set boundaries and have the ability to communicate your expert knowledge in inRiver’s Product Information Management (“PIM”) solution.

It is required that you have a good understanding of at least one of the manufacturing retail, or distribution industries. In addition, you are required to have strong experience in a Business Consultant Team Lead role with PIM, eCommerce, and/or Web Content Management solutions.

Key Criteria

Below is a summary of the responsibilities, requirements and skill-sets we require in hiring for this role:


  • Be a strong Leader and mentor for your team
  • Manage a team of 5 and growing, fast
  • Build strong relationships with inRiver’s Partners and Customers
  • Identify, document and drive best practices, pro-active communication and opportunities for improvement
  • Proactively work with your counterpart in EMEA
  • Plan and run PIM projects together with implementation partners
  • Define and deliver business solutions to customers / partner with expertise
  • Develop each customer’s & partners knowledge of inRiver’s PIM solution
  • Support partners and our sales team in estimating and quoting solution implementation work
  • Support partners and customers regarding how to implement and refine the inRiver solution, as required


  • Demonstrated Collaborative and candid leader
  • Extensive experience as a consulting team lead, business analyst and/or project manager
  • Experience leading data modeling & process design workshops
  • Experience working with enterprise software including eCommerce & PIM solutions
  • Good knowledge about information integration and information logistics
  • Good understanding of the modern enterprise system landscape
  • Experience presenting to a C-level audience
  • Knowledge and experience managing enterprise systems implementation projects

It will be considered an additional qualification if you also have:

  • Knowledge about the PIM domain
  • Knowledge about DAM related systems and services
  • Knowledge about print production using Adobe InDesign
