Marketing Communications Manager

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing Global Marketing team in a growing company. The Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for driving inriver’s public relations strategy, plan and writing communications, as well as driving internal communications and content. This is a global role working directly with the Chief Marketing Officer, as well as working in close collaboration with other executives including the CEO and Chief People & Culture Officer.
The Marketing Communications Manager builds the global PR plan, aligned to the company’s goals, messaging and go-to-market strategy. The Marketing Communications Manager teams closely with the global PR firms, to execute effectively against this strategy. The Communications Manager also delivers Executive Communications and supports internal engagement programs, including the monthly Company Townhall and driving content for the company intranet site.
This role can be remote, preferably on Central or East coast time zones (if US based) due to significant work with Europe. This role reports to inriver’s Chief Marketing Officer
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for inriver’s public relations strategy and plan, driving proactive activities and announcements in collaboration with PR firms and other third parties, plus messaging, narrative management and spokesperson development.
- Manage inriver’s PR firm(s) and budget to ensure outcomes from the strategy.
- Write, revise and edit press releases, bylines and all other press-related content outputs, in collaboration with the PR firm(s), CMO and other marketing team members.
- Provide PR reports to provide metrics and outcome tracking from press activities and investments.
- Provide counsel to executives on PR approaches and messaging.
- Manage and guide proactive PR announcements, launches, and narratives.
- Work with third parties on collaborative announcements (e.g. strategic alliance partners).
- Develop and manage relationships with a range of top-tier media contacts, including those in the technology, channel, vertical, and business spaces.
- Write and evolve messaging and talking points in a thoughtful and strategic way. Drive proactive technology and customer-forward storytelling effort.
- Support partner communications efforts aligned to other external and internal communications messages relevant to the partner audience.
- Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges, both proactively and reactively.
- Plan and write executive communications for the CEO, CMO and CPCO.
- Support planning and content for internal engagement programs such as monthly Company Townhall meeting
- Drive overall strategy and engagement plan, as well as lead content for the company intranet site, in partnership with assigned leads from each department.
- Other communications or marketing activities as required.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience public relations, crisis communications, executive communications and internal communications. Specifically, you will have PR experience in B2B technology/software, a track record of successfully managing proactive announcements with coverage results, and media relations expertise in both pitching proactive stories on an international scale and managing reactive storylines.
- Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in a Marketing, Communications, IT, business, or other related field. Specific writing expertise and/or education preferred.
- Exceptional, audience specific writing skills are essential for the role (writing samples and credentials will be required).
- Experience working with multiple executives and teams to effectively communicate internal strategy and initiatives, OKRs/goals and organizational changes/updates. Experience communicating on behalf of C-level executives to internal and external audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and presentations skills.
- Mature and strategic thinker.
- Able to thrive and execute in an evolving, fast-paced environment with a high degree of change.
- Strong problem-solving skills, fast response and agility in handling crisis comms /reactive storylines.
- Self-led starter with initiative is a must, given you will report to a senior executive.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent initiatives and priorities to deliver successfully.
- Ability to travel occasionally internationally (estimate 1-time per quarter or less).
