Director Product Marketing
Job Description:
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Product Marketing to lead our efforts in market intelligence, messaging development, and go-to-market (GTM) execution. This role sits at the intersection of product, marketing, and sales, driving alignment across teams to ensure cohesive narratives, targeted growth strategies, and consistent market positioning.
Responsibilities:
- Market Research & Forecasting: Continuously monitor and analyze industry trends, market shifts, and competitive dynamics to spot new opportunities and potential threats.
- Growth & Expansion: Partner with product management and executive leadership to identify high-potential verticals, buyer segments, and geographic markets for expansion. Develop this into a repeatable, scalable and validated targeting framework.
- Competitive Positioning: Maintain a structured approach to competitor analysis, ensuring the product clearly differentiates itself in a crowded marketplace.
- Campaign Strategy: Define overarching campaign themes that align with corporate objectives and product roadmap, ensuring marketing and GTM teams have a cohesive narrative.
- Opportunity Prioritization: Work cross-functionally with sales, product, and marketing leaders to prioritize campaigns, ensuring that the most strategic opportunities receive the necessary resources.
- Thematic Consistency: Oversee the consistent application of core messages and themes across demand generation, brand marketing, content, events, and partner marketing efforts.
- Company Positioning Creation: Develop, iterate, and maintain the overall company positioning, ensuring alignment with company leadership.
- Value Proposition Development: Craft clear, differentiated value propositions for various buyer personas, industry verticals, and solution areas. This needs to apply to both the entire solution and to individual features.
- Messaging Framework: Own the creation and evolution of messaging frameworks that guide all marketing content, ensuring consistency and relevance.
- Core Collateral: Oversee the creation of sales decks, product one-pagers, white papers, and other pivotal materials that support sales cycles and amplify the product’s value. These should be constantly tested and iterated with core stakeholders. This also includes corporate level positioning and materials such as the analyst decks, corporate decks and thought leadership.
- Persona Development: Create and maintain the personas that inform GTM messaging and activation with a goal towards making the personas actionable and not static.
- Launch & Release Management: Orchestrate product launches or major feature releases, mapping out timelines, deliverables, and success criteria across functional teams.
- Sales & Partner Enablement: Equip both direct sales teams and channel/partner networks with the training, tools, and messaging needed for effective selling.
- Marketing Team Alignment: Guide demand generation, content marketing, and digital teams with strategic direction—ensuring campaigns reflect the overarching product marketing vision.
- Sales Alignment: Maintain tight feedback loops with sales leadership to gather insights on win/loss data, refine messaging, and identify potential new sales tools or tactics.
- Funnel Analysis and Win-Loss Analysis: Constantly maintain a data-driven full-lifecycle view of customers and prospects, including identifying points of friction and developing strategic win-loss analysis.
- Product Partnership: Provide product management with market insights and feature recommendations to maintain a competitive and compelling roadmap. Be an acknowledged partner in shaping and developing the product vision and roadmap.
- Analyst Engagement: Influence analysts and influencers, positioning the company as a category leader and ensuring positive coverage.
- Customer Advocacy: Collaborate with customer success to cultivate success stories, case studies, and references that bolster credibility in key markets.
- Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a world-class product marketing team, setting a high bar for performance and collaboration.
- Skill Development: Ensure continuous learning, coaching, and professional development to keep the team at the forefront of product marketing best practices.
- Culture of Innovation: Foster a creative and data-driven environment that empowers the team to test new ideas, iterate quickly, and contribute to strategic thinking.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 7–10+ years of product marketing experience, ideally in high-growth SaaS environments of $50M+ in annual revenue.
- Deep understanding of subscription models, ARR, LTV, and related SaaS metrics.
- Proven track record of creating and executing holistic campaign strategies that align with product and corporate objectives.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams—demand gen, branding, events—to ensure thematic consistency and maximum impact.
- Highly skilled at simplifying complex technical capabilities into compelling, business-friendly narratives.
- Able to present confidently to executive stakeholders, analysts, media, and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with sales, product, and marketing peers, driving alignment on goals and priorities.
- Skilled in conflict resolution, balancing differing perspectives, and fostering open communication channels.
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and managing teams of product marketing professionals.
- Capable of instilling a culture that values data-driven decision-making, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Trusted leader with strong support from teammates, peers, and executives.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where market conditions and priorities evolve quickly.
- Strong capacity for both strategic thinking (the “why”) and operational execution (the “how”).
