Job Description
As a Technical Writer at inriver, you will play a key role in creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation to support our products and services. Working closely with engineers, product managers, customer support, and the design team, you will ensure our documentation is accurate, user-friendly, and consistently up-to-date. You'll also leverage emerging AI tools—such as ChatGPT—and advanced prompt engineering techniques to enhance content creation, streamline workflows, and explore new ways of delivering technical information.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation Creation: Develop user guides, API documentation, tutorials, and other technical content to support our SaaS platform.
- Maintain Legacy Documentation: Regularly review and update existing documentation to ensure it remains accurate and relevant.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with engineering, product, support, and design teams to gather technical insights and produce precise, user-focused documentation.
- UX Copywriting: Craft clear, concise in-app copy and microcopy that guide users through our platform’s features and enhance their overall experience.
- Content Strategy & Optimization: Implement SEO best practices and content strategies to improve documentation discoverability and effectiveness.
- AI Collaboration: Utilize AI tools and prompt engineering (e.g., ChatGPT) to generate and refine content, streamline documentation processes, and explore innovative ways to present technical information.
- Task Ownership: Manage projects independently, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outputs with minimal oversight.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a Technical Writer (2+ years) in a SaaS platform environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with HTML and an understanding of APIs; experience with Zendesk is a plus.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience is also valued.
- Self-Starter & Reliability: Ability to work independently and manage tasks without requiring extensive oversight.
Skills
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong eye for detail.
- Documentation Tools: Proficiency in using documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Confluence, etc.]) and familiarity with version control systems.
- Concept Simplification: Strong aptitude for understanding and simplifying complex technical concepts.
- Additional Expertise: Knowledge in SEO, UX writing, and graphic design to create supporting visuals.
- AI Integration: Comfort and proficiency in leveraging AI tools and prompt engineering to enhance documentation workflows and outcomes.
